Colors, Trim Codes and Production Quantities '67 Shelby G.T. Paint Colors
Footnote 1 - Charcoal Grey Metallic was not a RPO Mustang paint color. In the Ford line-up, this paint was only offered on the Thunderbird model. The Ford data entry system would not allow this paint color on a Mustang, and so column 15 of the 80-column vehicle order would be left blank. Notation was made on the Special Vehicle Order and Parts Specification (SVO) document that was sent to the assembly plant. The added work related to special-painting the low-volume Shelby GT units was likely a tremendous burden for the plant, and might explain why so few units ever received this special color before it was discontinued early in the production run.
Footnote 2 - Car #0176 (the G.T. 350 advertising car) was born Clearwater Aqua with 6K trim (luxury vinyl buckets, Aqua). Shelby repainted the car in Lime Gold and painted/dyed the interior black. These changes were part of the VIN that Shelby eventually assigned to the car, and it is included in our totals for both Lime paint and Black trim. Footnote 3 - It was Shelby American's desire to have the breathable (knitted) 5A/5U seating material in all of their '67 Shelby G.T. 350 and G.T .500 cars. However, the knitted vinyl material wasn't available at the start of production, and apparently there were some mistakes made toward the very end of production. This resulted in the substitution of 6A (black) trim in place of the 5A (black) trim into approximately 340 cars.
